My name is Colleen and for 3 years I served at Sarah’s Covenant Homes as a foster mom to a group of 14 children with special needs. I grew up  playing orphanage with my baby dolls and when I was 11 my parents adopted my youngest 2 brothers, one with multiple special needs. I’ve known for a while that I would do international work after I graduated from college and when a friend of a friend came to SCH I fell in love with the stories and the kids. Even though I never felt particularly called to India God made it very clear to me that this is where I was supposed to be so in May of 2015 I boarded a plane to India.

I previously lived in Anchor Home, one of the six houses that SCH. I live with my 14 kids and 6 caregivers in a the top floor of Anchor Home. Everyday is a bit different but it usually includes preschool, therapy activities, trips to the hospital, and lots of hugs and kisses. Most of my kids have pretty severe challenges but we don’t let that define them and are working with them to thrive.

Besides my kids I also love coffee, sewing, reading a good book in a hammock, quiet time with my journal and Bible, and cooking.

I would love to chat more with anyone who is interested in what I do. Please email me at colleenawilliams22@gmail.com

Also check out my podcast with The Archibald project for more info about what I do and SCH.

This blog chronicled my time in India at SCH and now serves as an advocacy blog for the children of SCH.
